The statistics from the Old Spice campaign in the US tell the story. P&G was having great success with a new ad campaign promoting Old Spice aftershave, featuring super-cool, American football legend Isaiah Mustafa. The campaign sees Isaiah move seamlessly from his bathroom, to a boat and onto a horse within 40 seconds http://tiny.cc/o3mka as he attempts to persuade American men to stop borrowing their partner’s flowery fragrant shower gel and be a proper man by using Old Spice. This advert was aired during the American Superbowl on 7th February 2010. It soon achieved cult status and attracted 15 million views on YouTube.

How to use your marketing budget wisely through the downturn
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010Practical tips for marketing managers on how they can squeeze the most from SEO and capitalise on social media explosion.
As any marketing manager knows, marketing budgets took a real hammering last year. It is sometimes seen as an easy first cut to make – reports show that around 60% of all marketing budgets were reduced in 2009. Some confidence has been restored this year, with marketing managers showing more optimism to invest, but the need to show restraint and resourcefulness will be a recurring theme until the end of this year I suspect.

Measuring Success in Social Media
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009Social media is hitting boom time, but how do you measure your success in using it for business? The following gives some guidelines in measuring how successful you are with it:
Blogs: Number of page views, comments, tags and RSS subscribers
Twitter: Number of followers, direct contact, re-tweets
Social Networks: Number of website click throughs, referrals, number of members, discussions & threads
Podcasts: Number of downloads
All of the above can be greatly influenced by promotion in appropriate directories or groups and social networking can be controlled from independent dashboards saving time and effort.

Facebook vs Twitter
Thursday, April 30th, 2009Recent statistics show Facebook is growing at an incredible 1M members per day and boasts 70% of the UK 16-34 age group. Twitter is experiencing rapid growth, but not as fast as Facebook did in its early days. Twitter demands more creativity and man effort to maintain but provides the freedom for a brand to engage with its audience like we’ve never seen before.
Ignore either at your peril!
