Enterprise Architect 7.0 Available
A quick look at the latest version of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect and you might think that all that's changed is the look and feel... While the IDE has been greatly "prettied up" with gradients on the diagram backgrounds and elements, a new intelligent toolbox, and some better thought out properties dialogs; this is really only scratching the surface. Some of the more functional changes include:
- statecharts which can be viewed and managed in a tabular format
- the inclusion as standard of the BPMN profile
- an addition of a Mind Map toolset and diagram
- an enhanced debugging workbench with sequence diagrams that allow you to drill down into the code by double-clicking on a message
- for those who use the data modelling features, support for Oracle and SQL Server 2005 among others has been greatly enhanced including support for functions
Those are just a handful of the new features, for a more complete list have a look at the release notes for build 813 here: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Latest;action=display;num=1183960125 and build 814 here: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Latest;action=display;num=1184736674
Even if you just use EA for sketching class diagrams and a use case or two, the new version is worth your while for the enhanced IDE alone. If you're a power user you're going to love investigating the new features and getting even more out of this great product.
