Overview

An opportunity has emerged to join a growing team at Dunstan Thomas. Dunstan Thomas is a software company with proprietary software products specialising in the pensions and investment space. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of financial services software testing experience, preferably in the pensions industry, and be able to work within a dynamic and changing environment. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and pro-active software tester with a commitment to delivering solutions of a high quality to time and budget, and an eagerness to learn and continuously improve.

Dunstan Thomas has a wide range of customers and software products, and the successful candidate may have the opportunity to work across products, customers and teams during the course of their employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing the team’s test strategy
  • Day to Day management and monitoring of the test process
  • Manual and automation testing of desktop applications and web-based applications / services
  • Participation in design reviews and providing input on requirements, product design and potential problems
  • Recognising test automation opportunities
  • Driving test cases from specifications, requirements, and user stories
  • Defect Management - logging, tracking, and managing defects / bugs through bug tracking tools
  • Analysing test results
  • Writing test approach, plans and reports
  • Producing Test Metrics for reporting and QA
  • Regular communication with development teams and management
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team

Essential Skills and Experience Required

  • Knowledge and practical experience of pension administration
  • Experience in testing both web and desktop applications
  • Practical experience of setting up test automation frameworks using Cypress.io, Selenium, Spec. Flow or similar portable test frameworks
  • Practical experience of API testing and automation, including a working knowledge of API testing tools like Postman, Swagger, SOAP UI or similar
  • Working knowledge and experience of MS Azure Dev Ops and JIRA
  • Familiarity with XML, JSON, Java script and SQL
  • Ensuring high quality deliverables
  • Pro-active and self-motivated
  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communicator
  • Analytical thinking/quick learner with a good attention to detail and able to problem solve effectively

Additional / Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Degree educated, ideally in a technical subject
  • ISEB / ISTQB certification
  • Experience of Winforms testing and automation
  • Experience of Non-functional testing tools and techniques

Location

Preferably Portsmouth with options for hybrid working, remote will be considered.
